Volunteering Holidays – Africa

Mercy Ships

Floating hospital

For over 30 years, the internationally recognised ship-based charity Mercy Ships has been providing FREE medical, dental and community development aid to the poorest nations of the earth.

More than 7000 free surgeries are performed each year on the Africa Mercy, the world’s largest non-government hospital ship. This is made possible by the goodwill of the volunteer medical and support staff.

The ship is nearly the length of two football fields, has SIX state of the art operating theatres and 78 hospital beds. Why not volunteer your skills and make a difference in some of the poorest nations in the world?

How can I volunteer in Africa with Mercy Ships?

Operation Uganda

Jordan House childrens home and community development initiatives

Make a difference, impact a community, transform a nation

The committed staff of Operation Uganda are bringing much needed hope and a future to every child in their loving care – no longer are they on the streets, living on rubbish dumps, or in clinical institutions; but are a dynamic and valuable part of a community, interacting and participating through school, community and church. Operation Uganda is truly inspiring and is run by Russ and Jenny Barton, originally from Brisbane and who have been in Uganda taking care of these precious children for approximately 4 years at Jordan House. They have opened up the opportunity for others to share and be a part of the wonderful work their team is doing.

Your incredible Ugandan experience will include combining work at the orphanage, perhaps building, painting etc, activities with the children and a 3 day wildlife safari. If you’re travelling with your own team, perhaps you may like to extend your 11 day trek to 14 days, and include quad biking on the Nile River also! Whatever duration your visit, the experience will be truly memorable and we are sure you will want to visit again. We are excited to bring this inspiring and quite possibly life-changing Ugandan experience to you!

Travelling over there is easy … if you’re travelling on your own simply join an 11 day trek (dates below), or if you wish to take a team and travel as a group, just contact our office to arrange your visit.

Why not take the opportunity to extend your trip and explore more of amazing Uganda … perhaps visit the famous gorillas in the mist and on the way home, stopover in Dubai for some desert adventures. Whatever you choose to do, your Ugandan experience will surely be a trip of a lifetime. Contact the friendly team at Uplift to arrange your trip now!
