Volunteer Holidays – Borneo

Remote Childrens Home, West Kalimantan – Indonesian South Borneo

7 nights including transfers, accommodation and meals FROM $789.00 p/p

Childrens Home

For the intrepid traveler!

Spend a week volunteering at this inspiring childrens home in West Kalimantan, which has now become practically a small village! Located deep in the Indonesian jungle in south Borneo, your hosts Ronny and Kay Heyboer and their team give hope and a future to approximately 300 of their extended young family members! Be energised as you learn about this couple’s vision for the home for the local tribal youth – this will be a truly memorable and fulfilling experience. Due to the extreme remoteness and bad condition of roads to access this childrens home, the 4×4 trip from Kuching airport takes a full day. This volunteering opportunity is best suited to the intrepid traveller with no back problems.

*Childrens home is a Christian ministry and visitors will be expected to take part in all Christian activities.

Boarding home for needy children

This childrens boarding home looks after approximately 270 children, offeringing a caring and dedicated ministry to the poor children of the region, particularly the Dayak tribes. Establishing work in Kalimantan in 1992 in Indonesian south Borneo, the first stage of the boarding home was built in 1996, to assist the children from the villages to have an education. Home is located approximately half a day’s drive from Kuching. Schooling is very expensive and a long distance from villages, sometimes up to a two hour walk for many students. Children stay at the boarding home, and now over time, with the high rate of mortality in local tribes, some orphaned or single-parent children now live full-time at the home. Here children are taken in with love and care, and receive good quality education to further their opportunities in the future.
