Homes of Hope

Home for single mums and babies

Volunteer at the inspiring Homes of Hope for single mothers and their children, which provides training in parenting and marriage, small business, education and bible study. The home was founded in 1996 to stop the cycles of poverty and destruction of families throughout the South Pacific. A group of local business men and women in Suva, Fiji incorporated this registered charity non-government organisation to bring hope to those hurt by these cycles.

Since its inception, Homes of Hope has transformed the lives of single mothers and their children, strengthened families, and inspired the local community. Through a powerful combination of programs, Homes of Hope is providing vocational and academic training, instilling responsibility into the lives of parents, and the spiritually mentoring young couples as well as the young single mothers who reside at the Homes of Hope compound. Volunteers' accommodation is located on-site, in either their guest house or in dormitories or bures with mothers and children (depending on availability).

Can you help?

Anyone is welcome to volunteer - you just need to have a willing heart and an able body! On applying, please advise if you have any specific skills. Other duties include generally helping around the home, including reading to the children.

Hibiscus Trust

Hibiscus Trust is a registered Trust in Fiji whose key fundraising activities are held on an annual basis in Australia and New Zealand. They are always looking for doctors and nurses to go over and help, so why not make a difference on your next holiday? Happy Home

Boys Orphanage

Established in 2006, this run down but beautiful old government home in Suva was renovated with a lot of love and willing hands from all over the world. The end result is a wonderful, safe and secure family home for at-risk boys.

Anyone visiting the Happy Home will see the happiness and joy reflected on the faces of the boys, each knowing they have a loving 'family' home and a secure place to gain the self-confidence and character they need for life. They are encouraged to become successful members of their community and reach their potential. Volunteers' accommodation is available close by.

Can you help?
Volunteers needed are carpenters, electricians, librarians, gardeners (both vegetable and flower gardening), admin staff, occupational and speech therapists
