Volunteer then Relax - Borneo
Living Waters Village
Childrens Home
For the intrepid traveller!
Spend a week volunteering at the inspiring Living Waters Village* childrens home in West Kalimantan. Located deep in the Indonesian jungle in south Borneo, your hosts will be Ronny and Kay Heyboer plus approximately 300 of their extended young family members! Be energised as you learn about this couple's vision for the home for the local tribal youth - this will be a truly memorable and fulfilling experience. Due to the extreme remoteness and conditions of roads to access Living Waters Village, the 4x4 trip from the airport to the childrens home take a full day. This volunteering opportunity is best suited to the intrepid traveller.
*Living Waters Village is a Christian ministry and visitors will be expected to take part in all Christian activities.
New Hope Boarding Home
Boarding home for needy children
New Hope* is a caring and dedicated ministry to the poor, especially in the Dayak tribes. Establishing work in Kalimantan in 1992 in Indonesian south Borneo, the first stage of the boarding home was built in 1996, to assist the children from the villages to have an education. Schooling is very expensive and a long distance from villages, sometimes up to a two hour walk for many students. Children stay at the boarding home, and now over time, with the high rate of mortality in local tribes, some orphaned or single-parent children now live at New Hope. Here children are taken in with love and care, and receive good quality education to further their opportunities in the future.
*New Hope Ministries is a christian ministry and visitors will be expected to take part in all Christian activities.
