Kathmandu City

It is the historic seat of royalty built between the 12th and 18th centuries. The Durbar Square is
protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Monument List in 1979 which epitomizes the social, religious
and cultural life of the Nepalese people. It is the place where the kings of Nepal are crowned and their
coronation solemnized.

The interesting things to see here are: the ferocious Kal Bhairav, Nautalle Durbar Square, Coronation
Nasal Chowk, the Gaddi Baithak, The statue of King Pratap Malla, the big Drum and the Jagannath
Temple.

It is the place where the visitors can see uncountable monuments. There is also the Numismatic
Museum and Tribhuvan Museum inside the place building. Photography is prohibited inside the
museum. It is the place to observe the juxtaposition of past and present, old and new.

Swayambhu Nath Stupa:
SwayambhuNath Stupa is 3km west of

Kathmandu city situated on a hillock about 77m above the sea level of the Kathmandu valley. It is one of the holiest Buddhist sites in Nepal and the best place to observe religious harmony in Nepal. Both Hindus and Buddhists worship here. It is said to be 2,000years old. It was listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Monument List in 1979. A large image of Buddha is in a monastery next to the stupa. It is also known as theMonkey temple, and the major landmark in the valley. From the top of a hillock on its western side it provides an excellent viewpoint over Kathmandu.

This afternoon, you will take a sightseeing of Patan city (UNESCO World Heritage site) and
Pasupatianth Temple.

Patan is known as the city of fine arts, full of Hindu temples and Buddhist monuments. This imposing
sight fascinates the visitors at the first glimpse. The most impressive focal point is Patan Durbar Square
full of ancient places, temples and shrines. The Square consists of three courtyards, the central Mul
Chowk, Sundari Chowk and Keshar Narayan Chowk and was listed in the UNESCO World Heritage
Monuments List in 1979. The most famous sights of Patan are as follows:

Patan Museum:
It is inside the Patan Durbar square and is considered as the best museums in Asia. It daily opens from
9:00am to 5:00 pm.

Patan Industrial Estate:
This industrial estate is well known for Nepali handicrafts such as wood carvings, metal crafts, carpets
and thanka paintings and there is also a shopping arcade where all of the handicraft product are
displayed and for sale. Client can visit factory of Nepali handicrafts and learn to how to make carpets,
thanka, wood carvings etc.

Tibetan Refugee Camp
This camp was established in 1960 under the initiative of the International Red Cross and the Swiss
Development Corporation (SDC), in cooperation with His Majesty’s Government of Nepal. Its main
objective is to help the Tibetan refugees to be productive and support themselves. One of the most
popular items here are the beautiful handmade Tibetan Carpets.

Hiranya Varna Mahavihar:
In this place you will find the three story golden pagoda of Lord Buddha. Many Buddhist visit here. It is
one of the most mystical sights in Patan.

Also in Patan, there are many other sights that you can see such as Rudra Varna Mahavir,
Jagatnarayan Temple, Kumbheshwor, the Ashokan Stupas, Temple of Macchendranath and Minnath
etc

Pashupatinath: The Pashupatinath Temple, situated on the banks of River Baghmati around 8 km
from the city, is one of the holiest Hindu shrines. The p residing deity here is Shiva, who is worshipped
in the form of the lingam. However, only Hindus are allowed inside.

Boudhnath stupa
It is the focal point of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal and lies 8km east of Kathmandu and is the largest
stupa in the South Asia, looming 36m overhead. It was listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Monument
List in 1979 is also known as Khasti. The name ‘Boudhanath’ is composed of two different words
Boudha and Nath. Boudha means wisdom and the suffix Nath stands for Lord. Thus Boudhanath means
the Lord of wisdom. In this area there are more than 45 Buddhist monasteries located at the base.

Bhadgaon City:
It is situated at an altitude of 1,401 metres and it covers an area of four square miles. The place is
famous for woodcarving and the Bhadgaolen topi or cap. It is also renowned of its myriad wonders of
cultural and artistic achievements. The most famous picture of this area is Bhaktapur Durbar Square.
The place of 55 windows, the stone temple of Batsala Devi full of convoluted carvings, innumerable
temples, architectural showpieces like the Lion Gate, the statue of king Bhupatindra Malla, the picture
Gallery, the Batsala temple, etc are the major focal points of Bhaktapur Durbar square and it was listed
in the UNESCO World Heritage Monuments List in 1979. The other famous places of this area are :

The National Art Gallery: It is well-known for its ancient and medieval paintings belonging to Hindu and
Buddhist schools.

Nyatapola Temple: It is a five- story pagoda built in 1702 AD by King Bhupatindra Malla and one of the
tallest pagodas, famous for its immense structure.

Bhairavnath Temple: Famous for its artistic splendor, dedicated to Lord Bhairav- the God of terror
which was built in 1718 AD by King Bhupatindra Malla.
